What is STEM?
STEM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM education is a branch of learning that specifically incorporates these four types of thinking. Most importantly, STEM education emphasizes that all four parts are interconnected, therefor creating a curriculum which asserts that to excel in any one piece of STEM, you must merge all together.
Why is everyone talking about STEM?
STEM is such a big deal in schooling theory right now particularly because STEM jobs are the highest growing job field in the world. But, conversely, in the USA, the amount of students who are interested in studying STEM has steadily been going down. In addition, there are disproportionately less women in the STEM fields. So, educators all around the world are trying to find ways to make STEM education more fun, colorful, and accessible to all kids.
